Hypnosis is a state of altered awareness during which our subconscious mind is more open and receptive to suggestions that are given. We drift in and out of different levels of awareness many times a day, absorbing information on a subconscious level as well as a conscious one.
A common experience and example is when you’re driving somewhere for quite a while and realize you’ve gone miles without being aware. Or you’re outside for a walk and realize an hour has passed and you weren’t aware of the path and time passing.
Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation allowing the hypnotist to communicate directly with your subconscious. The subconscious mind controls the involuntary functions of the body, including habits and things that we do ‘automatically’ - it is fueled by our emotions and imagination and directs the energy from within.
Hypnosis is a relaxed, trance-like state where you are in a highly deep state of focus and concentration, an altered state. During this time the hypnotist guides you through visualizations, suggestions, and affirmations that help re-frame limiting beliefs and thoughts, overcome emotions, fears, unhealthy and nonproductive habits. Hypnosis will help you develop positive thought patterns and attitudes. Hypnosis is not broad in nature and will focus on more specific behaviors and emotions.
Your hypnotherapist will work with your imagination to help you to achieve your goals. One example, is when you are going into trance you will be guided to imagine you are at one of your favorite spots to bring your focus away from where you are and help you relax.
Before your hypnotherapist chooses and creates a script for you, you will choose what the focus of the suggestions will be. You will hear positive affirmations, strategies on how to meet your goals, and the such. You will be provided with a recording of the trance for you to listen to in between sessions.
