In our work together on your behalf, you will set goals, develop a plan of action. We will look at your whole picture, if needed, to work through any blocks or obstacles that hinder the achievement of your goals.
Below are examples from my past that blocked me from moving forward. With some guidance I’ve grown past those times. You can to.
During an event I had an opportunity to chat with one of our state leaders. I quickly thought of some questions to discuss with her but found I couldn’t speak a full sentence without pausing or stuttering through my words. The look of sympathy on her face embarrassed me and the conversation ended soon after it began. I had spoken in public on occasion, led groups in discussion, taught in a school system, all with good speaking skills. That moment became an awakening for me. I reflected on comments made to me by others that can be described as verbal abuse, and also put downs that included sighs, the rolling of eyes, seeing someone’s back as I tried to talk to them respectfully, and more. All those little times added up to a large change in my confidence and ability to move forward, my income and career were affected. Then while at the attorney’s office for Mom’s estate I spotted a book about verbally abusive relationships, obtained a copy of it and read it from front to back twice. I felt it was about me.
Another awakening came during one of my first meetings at a Meetup group when after my share the other attendees responded that I was “stuck”. How right they were! My health has been affected, at times I felt like I was in a fog, experienced emotional negativity and physical discomfort. I am grateful for all the healing I’ve experienced and the help I found on the path.
The message I want to share from this experience is that we can to choose to use our past experiences as learning tools to enhance our present and future lives. If we are willing to do some work, make some changes in our habits and thoughts, we can find peace and contentment with ourselves, reach our goals, enjoy success and appreciate who we are.
As I believe in life-long learning I’ve completed many courses and workshops over the years. I realized my interests were in the areas of working with others, and myself, to elevate the quality of our lives, and that the work of a life coach would be well suited for me. One confirmation of that decision came from a person I didn’t know who asked me, out of the blue, if I was a life coach.
